OfferDay is built to be used anonymously. There are no accounts, nothing to sign up for, and you can read every page without giving us any personal information.

What we collect

• Server logs. Like almost every website, our servers record each request: the page asked for, the time, your IP address and your browser type. We use these logs to keep the site secure and to fix problems, and we do not use them to identify visitors.
• Searches. When you search for a school, town or postcode, the query is processed to answer it and appears in the server logs like any other request. It is not linked to you.
• Email. If you contact us, we keep the correspondence for as long as it takes to deal with, and we use your address only to reply.

Cookies

The site sets only the essential cookies it needs to work, such as a session cookie. There are no advertising cookies, no analytics trackers and no social media embeds. If the site starts showing adverts in future, this policy will be updated first and will say exactly what changed.

The school data itself

The information on school pages is about institutions, not individuals, and comes from data published by the Department for Education and Ofsted under the Open Government Licence. The government suppresses figures small enough to identify individual children before publication, and we display them as published. Our data guide lists every source.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask what personal data we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. For almost all visitors the honest answer is that we hold nothing beyond short lived server logs, but if you have emailed us we will hold that correspondence.
